Staff Accountant – Retail Programs

Summary

We have an opening in our Kansas City, MO Corporate office to join our finance team as a Staff Accountant-Retail Programs. This role provides timely, collaborative, service-oriented financial tracking, and support for Vanguard’s customer retail programs, including a variety of day-to-day functions in the revenue and billing area of the accounting department, such as analytical reporting and special projects as assigned. This position is a fast paced, high volume, multi project accounting role. The key focus will be to support the accounting department objectives, while promoting a team environment across the organization, and exhibiting traits of dependability, independence, and effectiveness. This position will report directly to the Controller and is expected to interact with both internal and external resources to support the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, setup & maintain numerous complex spreadsheets to manage A/R & A/P on assigned programs.
  • Utilize proprietary software systems to process EDI invoicing and file payment shortage claims.
  • Handle all correspondence, questions & issues regarding the assigned programs.
  • Manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, and effectively manage a high volume of business.
  • Analyze and reconcile customer information.
  • Prepare various account reconciliations, including analysis and research.
  • Manage multi-vendor accounts, with high volume billing.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate client and team relationships both internal and external.
  • Assist with accounts payable vouchering and check runs for multiple companies as needed.
  • Month end activities as needed.
  • Annual audit assistance
  • Maintain strictest level of security and confidentiality of all company and client records.
  • Perform special projects and requests from time to time as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of accounting experience or combined education and experience 
  • Advanced spreadsheet (MS Excel) skills and PC competency (MS Office) required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience is a definite plus.
  • Multi-unit retail experience preferred.
  • Experience with HRMS or Amtech ERP

Production Artist -Designer

Job Summary

The Production Artist Designer is an integral part of Vanguard’s Design Department. Responsible for the delivery of production art, design of displays, packaging, and marketing projects; create computer-aided and 3D visual representations of displays and packaging.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily tactical tasks of downloading incoming art files, checking for accuracy and quality, and entering them correctly into our workflow.
  • Assist in creating visually engaging sell sheets and case studies to support sales. 
  • Assist design team to create compelling representations of displays and packaging to be leveraged in sales presentations and marketing materials, Infographics, and social media posts. 
  • Create 3D visual representations of displays and packaging to be leveraged in sales presentations and marketing materials.
  • Manipulate files to match customer specs and our print requirements.
  • Make an independent judgment in the graphic assembly of working art files; analyzing needs and product requirements to create a final press-ready file.
  • Send art files to production as required.
  • Work with Project Managers, Structural Designers, and Customer Service Specialists to create and assemble internal process books and detailed setup instructions of packaging and displays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or college level computer design coursework and combined degree and 3 years relevant work experience
  • Strong skills in graphics software (Adobe CC)
  • Production Artist experience preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Corrugated background preferred. 
  • Knowledge of consumer products packaging, displays, creative design, production artwork, and print services.

Shipping & Receiving Manager

Job Summary

We have an opening in our Kansas City Production Facility for an experienced Shipping Manager to manage all functions within our shipping and receiving department.  Position requires strong negotiation skills and proven personnel management experience.  The Ideal candidate will have extensive experience with DOT regulations.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain driver trailer inspection logs and driving records per DOT requirements.
  • Attend daily Scheduling Meeting and assist the Plant Scheduler in meeting our customers’ requirements.
  • Prepare work orders for and coordinate repairs of trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doors.
  • Coordinate with Sales Service and Shipping Supervisor on the delivery of the customer orders on time.
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
  • Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings with the violating employees.
  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
  • Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Establish high morale within department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop strong rapport with various freight lines.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program, and good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated personnel management skills of at least 10 employees.
  • 5 years Shipping/Receiving management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College and/or related technical experience.
  • Five years’ experience within the corrugated box industry
