Vanguard Companies is proud to announce that Ed Econie’s daughter Sammi was awarded one of the two AICC Midwest Region’s $5,000 scholarships for 2023. Ed is our Eastern Regional Sales Manager based in St. Louis.
This highly competitive opportunity is open each year to children or grandchildren of full-time employees of companies who are members or associate members in good standing of AICC Midwest Region. The AICC Midwest Region’s objective is to provide financial assistance to young men and women with their college education and encourage students to strive for higher scholastic ideals.
Sammi Econie was a member of the honors college for four years and completed her undergraduate work at Western Illinois University with a degree in Biology and Dietetics. She finished first in her field of studies. While at Western, she worked at Goodwill and managed the food pantry for all four years. She is now moving to Dekalb, Illinois to finish her graduate work in Biology and Dietetics at Northern Illinois University. After graduate school, Sammi intends to work in a clinical environment and assist infants and the elderly with proper nutrition.
The scholarships were awarded at the AICC Midwest (Region 6) Golf Tournament held on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the St. Charles Country Club in St. Charles, Illinois.
Sammi was overwhelmed with the kindness of AICC. “This takes a lot of pressure off so I can focus on my education.”
