TONY COWGILL OBITUARY

Tony Lee Cowgill, 65, passed away on Monday Feb. 13, 2023 at his residence.

He was born in Marion on Dec. 22, 1957 to Ted Lee Cowgill and Shirley J. (Grose) Cowgill. His parents preceded him in death.

Tony graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1976, where he played football for the Eastbrook Panthers.

He retired in January of 2023 from New Indy Containerboard, where he had worked as a boiler operator for the past 34 plus years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Tony was an avid golfer and those who knew him would agree that he loved spending his day on the golf course. He enjoyed drinking beer and was an avid IU Fan. He was a people person and it was a guarantee if Tony was in the room someone was smiling and laughing. He could be loud, outspoken and a little sarcastic; he was one of a kind. Tony had a huge heart and he loved his kids and grandkids with everything he had. His smile was infectious and it grew even bigger when he talked about his family. He made friends easily and those who knew Tony will never forget his smile, his laugh and his friendly greeting. He was an animal lover and truly loved his four legged friend, Rizzo.

Tony will be sadly missed by his children, Shane A. (wife, Barbara A.) Cowgill of Hartford City and Kendal K. (wife, Hannah) Hattery of Columbia City; grandchildren, Gemma Cowgill, Kyesen Cowgill, Minx Cowgill and Riggs Cowgill; siblings, Teresa “Terri” (husband, Frank) Hall of Hartford City, Troy (wife, Michelle) Cowgill of Haslett, MI and Todd Cowgill of Upland; cousin, Brian Cowgill of Marion; friends, Larry and Jennifer Strait of Hartford City and Anne Baker Owen of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
