News from TAPPI | Envisioning the Future of Our Industry

Looking Ahead: Envisioning the Future of Our Industry

What would TAPPI look like if we were designing it today to serve the industry 20, 30, or even 50 years from now?

That was the question at the heart of the recent TAPPI 2050 Vision Casting Workshop, where our Board of Directors, representing forward-thinking organizations, came together to imagine what the future could look like for our association and its ability to serve our industry.

Since our founding more than 111 years ago, TAPPI has grown far beyond its roots in technical standards. Today, we are recognized as a globalcenter of excellence for the pulp, paper, tissue, packaging, and converting industries. We bring together verified technical knowledge, thought leadership, professional education, and collaborative solutions to address industry-wide challenges such as safety and innovation.

But one thing remains constant: our commitment to evolving alongside our industry.

The workshop challenged leadership to think beyond today’s priorities and consider what future generations of industry professionals will need tosucceed. As technologies advance, workforce expectations change, and new global challenges emerge, our association must continue to adapt in ways that create meaningful value for our members, companies, and the industry as a whole.

This vision casting session marks the first step in a multi-year strategic initiative. Over the coming months and years, we will engage with additional industry leaders, companies, and stakeholders to better understand the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of our industry. These conversations will help us identify where TAPPI can make the greatest impact and strengthen partnerships, spark innovation, and prepare the next generation of industry leaders.

The future of the pulp, paper, tissue, packaging, and converting industries will be shaped by innovation and safety collaboration, sharedexpertise, and a willingness to think differently. By asking bold questions today, we are laying the foundation to keep our industry moving forward.

This journey is just beginning, and we look forward to engaging with industry leaders across the globe as we work together to build the future together. Join us on this #TAPPI2050 journey.
