Jass invests in state-of-the-art corrugated sheetfeeder plant in Poland

The Jass Group based in Fulda/Hesse is expanding into another corrugated sheetfeeder plant in Poland. Back at the end of 2019, the company expanded its product range to include corrugated board and cardboard sheets when it acquired the Polish company Convert Paper. To continue to satisfy the increasing level of demand, another state-of-the-art site for Convert Paper is now being constructed in the Górnego Śląska economic region in southern Poland. This investment is set to create up to 60 direct high-tech jobs.

The Jass Group is investing in a new state-of-the-art corrugated sheetfeeder plant. The new site will impress with its sustainable production, future-driven working environment and technical innovations.

Efficient and sustainable production

With a working width of 2.80 m and an operating speed of up to 450 m/min, the new corrugator supplied by BHS Corrugated will produce up to 250 million m² of corrugated board each year, operating in three shifts. The focus will be on single and double-wall corrugated boards with B, C and E flutes and their various combinations. In comparison to conventional corrugators, this machine is noted for its lower specific energy consumption and the fact that a quality control system helps to minimise production waste. Production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2022.

Economic region with close links to customers

The new corrugated board plant is set to be constructed on a plot covering an area of 13.6 hectares in Dąbrowa Górnicza. This region in southern Poland, which is known as the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), is the country‘s most heavily industrialised and urbanised region. “Ultimately, the well-developed infrastructure and close links to our customers were the crucial reason why we chose this location for the new site. The transport routes to our customers will be much shorter. This will result not only in a further increase in delivery speed, but also a marked reduction in CO2 emissions,” stresses Marcin Grabowski, Managing Director of Convert Paper.

Highly skilled jobs and good career prospects

The new site will create a total of 60 direct jobs which will satisfy all the requirements of a modern job in a production company. A fully air-conditioned production hall with maximum noise insulation will create an extremely positive working environment. “As an owner-run corporate group, it has always been one of our corporate values to take responsibility for our employees and provide secure jobs that offer good career prospects,” explains Dr. Marietta Jass-Teichmann, CEO of the Jass Group.

About the Jass Group
The Jass Group is an owner-run corporate group. Founded more than sixty years ago, the company has always produced ecologically friendly papers from recovered paper for corrugated board packaging. At its sites in Fulda in Hesse and Rudolstadt/Schwarza in Thuringia, the company has an annual capacity of around 1 million tonnes of containerboard, making it one of the leading paper manufacturers in its field in Germany and Europe. In 2019, the company expanded its product range to include corrugated board and cardboard sheets by acquiring Convert Paper’s Polish plant, and with the joint venture JassFibre GmbH, which is operated together with Thüringen Recycling GmbH, it boosted the reliability of supply of recovered paper as a raw material.
