AICC West Coast Golf Tournament & Business Meeting

The Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, CA once again beckoned AICC members to gather for an afternoon of camaraderie and fun in the southern California sun. More than 90 golfers answered the call and after a satisfying box lunch, a 12:30 shotgun start put the event into motion.

The awards dinner that followed, sponsored by Corru-Kraft, was the place where virtually all attendees walked away with at least one gift and where Ben Wilson of Wilson Industrial Electric’s winning foursome was announced.

AICC thanks all the donors of the gifts and the golf hole sponsors for their participation and support. Thanks to Allan Company for sponsoring the bar and to Bay Cities and Golden West for the lunch, and to AG Stacker, Bobst, Corru-Kraft, and EFI for the beverage cart. Thanks to the following companies for their contest and tee sponsorships: Alliance Machine Systems, BW Papersystems, Cascades Sonoco, Haire Group, Isowa, JB Machinery, Kiwiplan, Olympic Wire & Equipment, Pacific Western Container, People’s Capital & Leasing, SmurfitKappa, Sun Chemical, Superior Lithographics, Wilson Industrial Electric, and WestRock.

The Marriott in Irvine was the site of the following day’s business meeting. West Coast Director David DeLine of DeLine Box in Denver opened the meeting. He introduced newly installed AICC Chairman Joe Palmeri of Jamestown Container. Joe shared the Jamestown Container story, which is his family’s story of how AICC membership and participation has helped the company to grow dramatically through the years. It was a true example of Joe’s theme for his Chairmanship this year, “Invest and Engage.”

AICC President Steve Young presented the state of the Association. This review of the past year’s AICC programming and financials gave the gathered audience a transparent view of the activities and the robust health of AICC, The independent Packaging Association.

The morning’s keynote speaker was Scott Zimmer of the Twin Cities based organization BridgeWorks. Billed as a “Generational Speaker and Consultant,” Scott led the audience through an instructive and entertaining presentation on the multiple generations participating in today’s workplace. The unique characteristics and contributions of the Traditionalist, Baby Boomer, Generation X, Millennial and Generation Y were all addressed in Scott’s far ranging remarks. He left all in attendance with a good sense of the experiences that formed the way each group thinks. He elaborated on what matters to individuals from each group. He shared ways to communicate in the best way with each group. Most importantly, he gave hope to all that the multiple generations in our offices and plants can work together effectively with understanding and respect.

AICC thanks all who participated and made the two-day event such a success. A special thanks to David DeLine and to Pete Kobrak of BW Paper Systems for their efforts. Additionally, thanks to Automatan, Haire Group, and SUN Automation for sponsoring the business meeting.

Plan on joining more AICC members for the West Coast Ski Outing at Whistler, BC January 30 – February 2, 2019.
