AICC: Two Production Seminars Back to Back

AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, has opened registration for Production Leadership:  Next Level Supervision of People & Process and Production Measurement: Benchmarking & Buy-in, to be held June 4-5 and June 6-7 at Pacific Southwest Container in Modesto, CA.

“We are offering these two courses back to back to allow AICC members to learn a great deal of information with minimal time out-of-plant. The first class gives attendees the leadership skills, and class two goes in-depth with practical application and training,” said Taryn Pyle, AICC Director of Education & Leadership Development.

Production Leadership:  Next Level Supervision of People & Process will address the constant changes in the marketplace and workforce. Managers in independent corrugated, folding carton, and rigid box plants will benefit from the education and hands-on experience with the tools of leadership and improvement. Before this course, participants are encouraged to complete a self-assessment to gain awareness of their specific leadership and communication style. During the seminar, in addition to learning from an expert instructor, participants will share their best practices, challenges, and questions for discussion. This popular seminar has been updated to address up-to-minute challenges.

“The interactive discussion and hands-on tools were helpful to me in preparing our production crew for better machine processes,” said David Casey, Operations Manager, BoxBoard Products.

Production Measurement: Benchmarking & Buy-in welcomes attendee to the War Room, where productive team members practice using tools to increase productivity and reduce employee turnover in the War Room of a virtual company and on the real host plant floor. Participants will work together, to cut setup times by 65%. All the tools in the War Room will be used to ensure lasting success. Real-time learning will include a setup reduction process with a host plant crew.

Justin Gittings, Supervisor, Independent II, said, “what I enjoyed learning the most was learning how to create SOP’s so that I could then implement this process and educate employees to follow the same practice on each machine.”

Both seminars will be led by Dr. Scott Ellis, Ed.D, Principal, Working Well LLC. Scott is a leadership and process improvement specialist who serves on AICC’s faculty to assist in building the Packaging School curriculum. Scott has served as a resource for development of individuals, teams, and organizations as a consultant, teacher, psychotherapist, coach, and general manager in the packaging industry for two decades. His pragmatic approach is focused on making it easy to do the right things right.
