The 9th Annual Independents’ Cup Charity Golf Tournament, held during the AICC Spring Meeting in Miami, FL, was a wonderful networking event with record-breaking attendance.



Played on the Golden Palm and Red Tiger courses at the Trump National Doral the Tournament, boasted 240 people who helped raise $30,000 for the Foundation for Packaging Education.
Participants enjoyed challenging courses, good company, and perfect weather. Adding to the fun, golfers were challenged to shoot a golf ball with an air cannon. Congratulations to Steve Lynn of Durst and Adam Pauwels of Atlantic Packaging Products for shooting the two closest to the pins.
The first-place team on the Red Tiger course was Mike Butler, Domtar; Mark McNay, SMC Packaging Group; Tom Phillips, Bobst; and Kevin Miller, Royal Group/Schwarz Partners.
Cade Haglund, Central Package & Display; Paige Haglund, Central Package & Display; Austin Umlauf, Haire Group; Olivia Umlauf, Haire Group were the first place team on the Golden Palm Course.

The designated charity for this Tournament, the Foundation for Packaging Education, will contribute to the costs associated with developing training and education for the industry. About the purpose of the Foundation Gary Brewer, President, Package Crafters, said “It’s workforce development. That’s what we’re after here. We want to be an attractive industry. We want to have people say, ‘What is the packaging industry all about?’”
